1 BATTERY PERFORMANCE METER FOR ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEMS
Team Members: Ryan Bickham, Dennis Blosser Cody Dinkins, Todd Dutton, Rachel Shively Project Sponsor: Patrick Taylor, Ph.D., AMRDEC February 12, 2008

2 Procured Parts 25 psi, 1” pressure regulator for cooling system
Hardware for coupler and dyno mounting Hose clamps Cooling system now finalized Flow meter and pressure transducer will not be used

3 Coupler Design

4 Inventory of Materials Received from MechE Dept., p1

5 Inventory of Materials Received from MechE Dept., p2

6 LabVIEW Interface Inputs from Device Under Test
Battery voltage, current, and temperature Inputs from Dynamometer and controller Motor torque, speed, and excitation Cooling water temperatures (in and out) Virtual Instrument developed will display all data on a continuous timeline Data will be recorded at 1 sec intervals for duration of test and output into .xls format

7 New Developments Magtrol DSP6001 Controller connected to LabVIEW via RS-232 M-Test Software compatible with LabVIEW Download Magtrol’s driver (VI) that will automatically interface the data from the controller to LabVIEW Power supply for servo tester Nickel cadmium battery not available Will use same 12 volt supply in parallel with the Hall Effect sensor

8 Attend LabVIEW tutorial class on 13 Feb
Next Steps Attend LabVIEW tutorial class on 13 Feb Receive Magtrol controller and M-Test software Submit final coupler design for machining Finalize motor mount design Start developing LabVIEW interface
