A linking verb joins the subject with a word or phrase that describes the subject. The most common linking verb is “TO BE” (am, are, is, was, were, be, being, been) Predicate Nominatives are nouns, or pronouns that follow a linking verb and rename the subject. subject linking verb predicate nominative

4 Copy each of the following and then diagram each.
Kiwi is a yellow cockatiel. Cockatiels are parrots. Parrots are popular pets. How long has Kiwi been Frank’s pet? (hint: “long” modifies “has been”, “How” modifies “long”)
