2 What is the High School and Beyond Plan?
The High School and Beyond (HS&B) Plan gets you thinking about your future and how to get the most out of high school. The process is to make sure you’re ready to pursue your adult life, no matter what pathway you plan to take. You started your HS&B plan in 8th grade in Naviance in your CCLR class and will continue to edit and revise it throughout high school to accommodate your changing interests or goals. Completing the High School and Beyond Plan is a high school graduation requirement.

3 What do I have to do to meet my High School and Beyond Plan?
Elements of the HS&B Plan include: Creating a personalized student portfolio which matches your career interest/goals including the steps you need to complete to be successful beyond high school. By the time you graduate, your portfolio will contain: Your Learning style Your Resume Goals for high school including: Courses Extracurricular activities Goals after high school and steps needed to enter: 2- or 4-year college/university, vocational or technical school, Certificate or apprenticeship program, Military enlistment, And/or Workforce

4 When will I do all of this?
Most of the work you will do for your High School and Beyond Plan will be done in Seminar.. Other parts of your plan will be integrated into your classes during high school. Remember when you took the PSAT last week? This was one of your High School and Beyond Plan activities.

5 How do I access my High School and beyond Portfolio?
Log in to your Naviance account! Everything will be kept there and you will be sharing your information with your parents during student-led conferences this spring. (You will be doing a Naviance lesson in Seminar on Nov. 8) To sign into your Naviance account use your student ID number as your username and your 6-digit birthday for your password.

6 What are my “Beyond” Choices after High School?
There are many different pathways you could take. These pathways include: Military 4-Year University 2-Year Community College Trade or Technical School Apprenticeship Workforce The following slides will give a brief explanation of each of these pathways. You will learn more in depth information about each pathway in another Seminar class.

8 Military Pathway

9 Military pathway You will qualify and enlist in the Military.
You will leave for boot camp immediately after your high school graduation.

10 4-Year University Pathway

11 4-year University pathway
You will apply and be admitted to a 4-year university with the intention of earning your Bachelor’s Degree. You will begin classes in the Fall after you graduate from high school.

12 2-Year Community College Pathway

13 Community College You will apply and be admitted to a 2-year Community College with the intention of earning an Associate’s Degree and/or Certification in a specific field. You may also plan to transfer to a 4-year college upon completion of your AA degree. You will begin classes in the Fall after you graduate from high school.

14 Technical/Trade School Pathway

15 Technical/Trade School pathway
You will apply, interview with an Enrollment Service Representative, and be admitted to a specific technical or career trade school. You will begin classes in the Summer or Fall after you graduate from high school.

16 Apprenticeship Pathway

17 Apprenticeship PATHWAY
You will apply for on-the-job training with a company which pays you while you work and take formal classes towards a certification in a specific career field.

18 Work Force Pathway

19 Work Force pathway You will apply and interview for a job.
You will begin working before you graduate or immediately after graduation.

22 Bottom line? The goal is to GUARANTEE that all Tiger graduates leave with a post high school plan in which they will be successful.

24 Do you know you can get a jump start on your career now?
High school students can get high tech training with Tech Prep by taking specific career-oriented classes at their high school that translate into college credits accepted by community colleges like Spokane Falls and Spokane Community College. In other words, explore different career options in hands-on classes – free of charge, without ever leaving your high school!

26 Who’s Eligible to earn this college credit?
If a student's high school offers Tech Prep classes, he or she is eligible! But remember, you must meet college competencies and get a "B" grade or better in each Tech Prep class to earn college credits! Some courses may require a portfolio or industry certification in addition to a "B" grade.  Check out more information at:
