2 Vision

3 Theory of Action

4 Educational Impact of 2:1 Learning
As Costa and Kalick (2010) noted “our students are in the 21st Century and they are waiting for the teachers and the curriculum to catch up.” College and career readiness now means that our students must be proficient in mobile technologies and be adept at using these technologies to do critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and multi-media research and sharing.

5 Educational Impact of 2:1 Learning
The Partnership for 21st Century Skills, an organization that promotes and encourages 21st Century readiness for all students, identified the following as essential 21st Century skills: Critical Thinking & Problem Solving Inquiry Innovation & Creativity Communication Collaboration Information & Media Literacy Technology Skills Self-Directed Learning Global Awareness

6 Why 2:1? To prepare students for this world we need to establish equitable access to quality learning tools and technologies that enable students to learn in relevant, real world contexts. To achieve these objectives, many schools are turning to 1:1 or 2:1 computing initiatives as a solution (Penuel, 2006). The opportunity for 2:1 access facilitates: problem-solving project-based learning critical thinking global awareness EWCSD must prepare our students for 2:1 learning so that our students possess a facility with these learning tools before they move on to their college or careers. Access to information is literally in the palms of their hands, but what students learn to do with this information remains our prime directive and requires us to change the way we think about teaching and learning.

7 2:1 Learning Goals To increase student engagement and productivity through personalized learning and equal access to technology To extend and expand learning beyond the school day—anytime, anywhere learning To provide authentic and relevant learning experiences To increase student achievement and academic rigor To increase 21st Century skill development in collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving, digital literacy, and global awareness
