2 Cost Avoidance Update Since VIVA began in 1994, it has provided a total cost avoidance to the state of $717 million!

3 Steering Committee Chair: Carrie Cooper, College of William and Mary
Addition for VIVA in the Governor’s Budget: $1,220,994 for FY17 and $1,282,045 for FY18 Regain funding lost in (5% of budget) Funding for sustaining current collections Funding for e-book collections with statewide relevance

4 Steering Committee VIVA to participate in Virginia Model for Preservation Service (VAMPS) program proposal Led by Bradley Daigle (UVA) The Mellon Foundation continues to show interest If funded, will enable a Virginia Service Hub for the DPLA and help establish corresponding preservation services

5 Outreach Committee Chair: Cy Dillon, Hampden-Sydney College
Product Announcement coming for extensive additions to STEM content – IOP, IEEE, Wiley Onboarding documents for people new to VIVA are under development

6 Resource Sharing Committee
Chair: Rosemary Arneson, University of Mary Washington Planning for the 18th VIVA Community Interlibrary Loan Forum is underway Regent University has joined the Cooperative Borrowing Project Sharon Gotkiewicz from VT is the new ILL Subcommittee Chair

7 Collections Committee
Chair: Sharon Gasser, James Madison University IEEE: All public institutions will now share the IEEE/IET Electronic Library This represents an upgrade for all institutions except for the few that already had this level of content. 37 additional journal titles, additional conference titles, active and selected archival IEEE standards, backfiles to 1872 (for select titles), and over 3,000,000+ full-text documents (an increase from 324,000+).

Value Project: Upcoming analysis of all VIVA products The Collections Committee plans to explore value parameters such as price per download, price per FTE, usage ratio, discount rate for VIVA members, etc. in the interest of comparing the relative value of resources to VIVA members.
