Database Searches and Journal Article Downloads FY 1996-2008 Total A&I Searches:112,526,368 Total Article Downloads: 42,896,235

VIVA Priorities for 2008-10  Sustain current collections – Funding needed to sustain current collections due to enrollment growth and contractual cost increases.  Emphasize research growth in key subjects – Focus on key areas nursing and allied health engineering and information technology education – Chief focus on sponsored research enterprise  Support for the Interlibrary Loan expedited delivery program

2008-09 Priorities  BUDGET Management – Cancellations Gale Academic OneFile (replaced by EBSCOhost Collection) as of 7/1/08 Cancelled the Academic Press IDEAL Archives (1996-2002) as of 12/31/08 IOP Journals under review Others as necessary

Sustaining VIVA’s Vision  VIVA is equitable – VIVA levels the playing field  VIVA is cooperative – Decentralized organization structure – VIVA spends more than 96% of the total budget on direct services for our members  VIVA is cost-effective – VIVA brings in $5 of value for every $1 spent on electronic resources

2008-09 Priorities  Manage Budget - Cancellation Criteria – Limit Impact on Members – Value Full Text over A&I – Vendor Policies and Pricing – Content and Convenience – Also: Attempt to give our members advance warning (may be hard to do this year) Ensure that the Commonwealth will not spend more on products if VIVA cancels
