Presentation by the Pacific Islands Private Sector Organization (PIPSO) at the 30th ADFIP Annual General Meeting at Sofitel, Nadi, Fiji

2 About PIPSO……. Pacific region private sector organization whose members comprises of national private sector organizations, chamber of commerce and industry and/or business councils Membership includes 17 Pacific Islands which includes American Samoa, New Caledonia and French Polynesia Established in 2005 – Forum Economic Ministers decision ; operational in 2007 Core functions include -Supporting NPSOs to be strong and responsive organisations - Assisting Pacific businesses to enhance their business competitiveness and growth - Championing the interests of private sector in the appropriate fora’s Ensuring the sustainability of PIPSO’s resources and enhancing its capabilities Since 2010 – disseminate more than FJD 7M in assistance to PS

Opportunities for ADFIP Lead New Developments in the Economy Initiate new development ideas to tackle challenges in the Pacific Initiate, Facilitate & Collaborate Work is more than just giving out loans Example African Development Bank Tackling Youth Unemployment Create 50 Million Jobs Use an ecosystem approach (integration, innovation & investment) Agriculture, Industrialization & ICT Capital, training & mentoringship, incubators, connection with employers, digital literacy, complex problem-solving curricula in secondary schools develop premier coding academies and match graduates directly with ICT employers
