2 Key Terms You should have
Camcorder- an appliance that both captures moving images (camera) & stores them on tape (recorder) Digitize- to record images & sounds as numerical data, either directly in a camcorder or in the process of importing them to a computer

3 Key Terms You should have
Film- an audiovisual medium that records images on transparent plastic strips by means of photosensitive chemicals Live- recorded & (usually) transmitted for display continuously & in real time

4 Key Terms You should have
Shoot- to record film or video; also “a shoot” is an informal term for the production phase of a film or video project Television- studio-based multicamera video that is often produced & transmitted “live”

Video- an audiovisual medium that records on magnetic tape or disk by electronic means; also, single-camera taped program creation in the manner of film production Visual Literacy- the ability to evaluate the content of visual media through an understanding of the way in which it is recorded & presented

Ability to reproduce quality images in black & white & color is highly refined Better editing is possible (separate recording tracks for audio & tape)

8 TV … not so hot??? Equipment was too heavy, complex, & tied down by cables Image quality worse than film Couldn’t be recorded for later editing

10 Video Literacy Persuades you about what to buy or how to vote
Tells you who’s important & why Tells you about your community, nation, & planet are working & how they should work Shows you what’s fashionable, desirable, & what you’re supposed to want Models ways to love, fight, work, worship, & dream

11 Video Production Preproduction- everything you do BEFORE you shoot (scripting/ storyboarding, scout locations, get cast & crew, & all equipment needs) Production- the actual shoot Postproduction- the editing process
