3 What is a magazine or booklet?
The Magazine is: Shiny, Coloured pictures, DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEXT The Booklet has QUESTIONS TO ANSWER INSTUCTIONS to read

4 Why do we need them? READ ONE TO ANSWER THE OTHER
YOU NEED TO USE BOTH YOU NEED TO: READ ONE TO ANSWER THE OTHER YOU NEED TO SWAP BETWEEN THEM ALL THE TIME WHEN YOU ARE STUCK RE-READ THE MAGAZINE TEXT.

5 Where is the question? When the writing is slanting like this then it means that is in the magazine. Plus it tells where it is with the page number

7 What is ‘text’? Any kind of writing that you can read.
“I read the text.” “I can write text.” It is NOT just texting on a phone. It is letters, words, sentences, paragraphs.

What kind of text is it? There are two kinds of writing you can read: MAKE BELIEVE Fiction- Narrative, Poetry, Plays REAL, TRUE INFORMATION Non-Fiction- Information Text, Biography, Autobiography

The job of Narrative Is to entertain us. Written in past tense Uses time connectives Has an Orientation- who, when, where it happens Complication with a series of events Resolution- solving the problem Make believe- even talking animals

Opinions tell us what different people think. There are more than one opinion No one is right or wrong- it is what they think The writer might have their own idea or try to convince you with facts
