1 Yeti 400 Reprogram SOP 5/1/2017, Yeti firmware rev. 2.0

2 Torque Limited Driver: Setting 10
Tools Needed: Torque Limited Driver (torque setting 10) Driver Bit (size 5/32) PICKit-3 Programmer with pin harness (provided with code by GoalZero) External USB Power Source (5V) Preferred driver bit size 5/32 Alternative bit size T25 PICKit Programmer with USB power source Torque Limited Driver: Setting 10

3 Unbox the unit Unscrew Top Remove plastic top
Keep Packaging intact for re-use Unscrew Top Using a driver with a 5/32 bit, unscrew the 4x screws on the top of the Y400. Remove plastic top

4 Pull faceplate up, out of the slot.
Locate and place programming pins into holes on the circuit board. Lights on the PICKit should face UP (toward user), the white arrow on the PICKit should point to the far right hole (marked MCLR) on the board. Ensure that the PICKit is powered (5V USB); the Power Light should be illuminated Green. Once powered, the Active Light should be flashing Blue. .

5 Press Button on PICKit ensuring that that pins make/stay in contact with the holes on the circuit board. The Power light on the PICKit should be illuminated with a solid Green light. The Active Light should be flashing blue. After the button is pressed, hold the programmer in place for ~5sec. Once the button is pressed, the Status Light should turn solid Red and change to Solid Green to indicate that programming was successful.

6 Confirm that the unit updated:
Hold down the ‘Units’ and ‘Light’ button on the Yeti’s faceplate for 5sec. The Battery % numbers on the LCD screen should change to show 20% indicating that the firmware version has updated correctly to v2.0. Note: If you don’t see a % to the right of the battery icon, press the ‘INFO’ button. Put the unit back together after confirming the units firmware version. Slide the Faceplate back into position, ensuring that none of the internal wires become disconnected. Place the plastic top in position, and screw back into place.

7 QC Functionality Check:
WattsUp Meter Setup: For output testing, connect the Load Resistor (provided) to the ‘Load’ Side of the WattsUp meter (provided). USB Ports (x3): Connect the Male-USB to APP adapter (provided) to the ‘Source’ side of WattsUp meter. Press the button on the Yeti to engage USB power. Plug the Male-USB into each of the USB slots on the Yeti. The output should exceed 6.5W. 12V Ports: 6mm Port: Connect the 6mm to APP adapter (provided) to the ‘Source side of the WattsUp meter Press the button on the Yeti to engage 12V power. Plug the 6mm cord into the port on the Yeti. The output power should exceed 30W ‘Cig’ Port: Repeat 6mm port instructions exchanging ‘source’ cord for the ‘cig’ adapter.

8 QC Functionality Check (continued):
AC Port: Press the Yeti’s AC button to enable AC Output. Plug in an AC powered load (light-bulb fixture provided; ideally use bulb ≥60W). Observe that the Load reacts appropriately, and that the Yeti’s LCD screen displays the expected output. Input Port: Setup: Plug the included Yeti Power Supply into an AC source. Connect the Female 8mm Adapter to the ‘Source’ side of the WattsUp. Connect Male 8mm Adapter to the ‘Load’ side of the WattsUp. Test: Plug the Male 8mm adapter’s barrel plug into the Yeti input. The blue input LED should illuminate. The Yeti should begin charging; unless the unit is full it should take a minimum of 35W in. USB Ports 12V Ports AC Ports Input Port Min: 6.5W Min: 30W TBD Min: 35W

9 Re-pack: Repackage the Yeti as received, ensuring that the Input port aligns with the Charging hole in the box. Seal the packaging with 3pcs of tape; one piece across the center, and one piece along each side.
