6 Nonresident Programs Division
The Nonresident Programs Division projects the Defense Language Training Program worldwide DLIELC deployed 141 civilian personnel in FY13 - 17 to Afghanistan - 37 to countries, 5 CONUS sites, Puerto Rico FY14 deployed 74 civilians personnel to 15 countries, CONUS sites, Puerto Rico

7 ELT: ODC Role Identify/program in-country personnel for CONUS English language training (ELT) Administer English Comprehension Level Coordinate purchase of American Language Course (ALC) materials and language laboratory systems Host DLIELC English workshops for in country programs Provide/coordinate ELTP services: MTTs and LTDs, surveys, management/advisory/admin assistance

8 Cadet English Language Training Team (CELTT) Program
CELTT falls under Cultural Understanding and Language (CULP) Program, US Army Cadet Command in Fort Knox CELTT took place summers of 2011 and 2012 2011: Began with 10 countries, mainly AFRICOM 2012: Expanded to over 20 countries, 4 COCOMs 900 cadets from schools throughout US sent overseas

9 CELTT continued 2013 DLIELC played a larger role
- Call for up to 10 DLI instructors to serve as Director of Instruction (DOI) on CELTT missions - Developed resources manual for use as core curriculum in partner nations 2014 DLIELC continues support of CELTT - Five DOIs identified to serve in EUCOM/AFRICOM

10 Roles of Directors of Instruction
Familiarize Cadets with CELTT Resource Manual developed by DLIELC Build rapport with cadets and host-nation student participants Act as EFL/ESL resource and coordinate with partner-nation ELT POCs Observe participant discussions and provide guidance for enhanced interaction Provide formal instruction as necessary to initiate/facilitate learning experiences

DoD program designed to help international students meet Americans Voluntary, but highly encouraged Overall mission is to make students feel welcome while undergoing training Serves as an extension of student’s academic studies Sponsors provide immeasurable help to international students in exposing them to American culture
