1 Subject-Verb Agreement Rules
Identify the subject Identify the verb Is the subject singular or plural? If the sub. is plural (verb should not end in –s or –es) If the sub. is singular (verb should end in –s or –es)

2 Subject Verb Agreement: The subject and verb in a sentence must agree
in number. A singular verb tells what one person , place or thing is doing. It usually ends in –s or –es. (Ex: Usher closes the door to the vault). A plural verb tells what more than one person , place or thing is doing. It usually does not end in –s or –es. (Ex: We close the door to the vault). Please identify if each sentence is correct. If not, fill in the blanks to complete the following sentences making sure that the subjects and verbs agree in number. 1.
