3 Big event #1: Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection
From that time on Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Matthew 16:21

4 Big event #2: The coming of the Holy Spirit
Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the One who sent Me.” John 7:33 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. John 14:16-17 5 But now I am going to Him who sent Me…. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you John 16:5, 7

5 1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3

6 Big event #2: The coming of the Holy Spirit
3 After His suffering, Jesus presented Himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” 9 (Then) Jesus was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight. Acts 1:3-5, 9; p. 389, The Story

7 Big event #2: The coming of the Holy Spirit
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.  3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:2-4 p. 390, The Story

8 Big event #1: Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection
Big event #2: The coming of the Holy Spirit Big Event #3: The birth Church 41 Those who accepted Peter’s message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:41-42 p. 392, The Story

9 Boldness

10 Boldness 13 “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.  14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.  15 So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together.  Acts 4:13-22 p , The Story

11 Boldness 16 “What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it.  17 But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.” 18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.  Acts 4:13-22 p , The Story

12 Boldness 19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!  20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” 21 After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened.  22 For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old. Acts 4:13-22 p , The Story

13 Boldness Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable Your servants to speak Your word with great boldness.” Acts 4:29

14 Dreams 20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,  21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
