2 Additional Information
I believe every child can succeed. Lessons are presented in a multi-sensory way to enhance multiple intelligences. Modifications & Accommodations made are per your child’s IEP (Individual Education Plan) Any specific questions pertaining to your child see me to set up an appointment for a later date.

4 Planners/Preparation
Students are to come to class prepared everyday with homework and supplies. They must have their planner with them at all times. The planner is an organization/communication tool. I will write notes about progress and behavior in it. It should be checked by a guardian daily. If a daily planner check needs to be instituted by both the teacher/guardian that can easily be started.

5 Suggested Supplies Math: 3-Ring Binder Pocket Folder Pencils
2 Sections Notes CW/HW Pocket Folder Pencils All RPJ workbooks are consumable. They are left inside the classroom. BIG IDEAS Math Textbook is left inside the classroom. Any homework students can utilize the online version.

6 District Grading Policy
Math: Assessment=60% Class work=20% Homework=20% Quizzes/tests requiring parent/guardian signature. Teacher discretion.

7 Homework Khan Academy & Sumdog - Students will be allowed computer access one day per week. This can also be completed at home at any time. APP – Math Facts (Practice multiplication) Practice Worksheet/Text - Three to four times a week.

8 New Grading Scale 80-89 = Above Average 70-79 = Average
90-100= Outstanding 80-89 = Above Average 70-79 = Average 65-69 = Passing but below average 64 and below = Not passing Assessments below 70 require a guardian signature.

9 Promoting Positive Behavior
Students Earn Tickets for positive behavior Raising hand Bringing pencil Set and ready to learn HW Participating in lesson/activity Using kind words to peers/teacher Working quietly Tickets 10 ticket = $1 McAuliffe Bucks McAuliffe Bucks = Purchase Prizes Extra tickets are put into bucket for a chance to “Spin the Wheel” Spinning the wheel and purchasing prizes are on Fridays.

10 Report Cards Interim report notifying you of your child’s progress is no longer sent through the district. Please check the portal throughout the marking period. It is updated almost daily. Report cards are posted quarterly. (GO GREEN)

11 Go Green Log onto the Jackson School District web site to view class page. Log onto Portal to check grades. Get updated parent information on the ParentLink. Get updated information from both the district and community through the E-Backpack.

12 Afterschool Help Afterschool help varies each week depending on my meetings, conferences, etc. Any assessment below 70 I will add 10 percentage points to their original score if he/she stays after school for corrections with the teacher. This must be done within two weeks from taking the original assessment. Extra help is from 2:30-3:00. Students will take the 3:40 bus home.

13 Math Assessments Assessments can consist of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and open-ended responses. I will utilize new and previously acquired math terms/vocabulary. It is important for students to practice them when completing their homework. Students receive study guides before an assessment. (Red Book)

14 Help your child stay organized.
Keys to Success!! Help your child stay organized. Have a quiet place at home to complete HW and study. Check grades on portal system. Remind your child to come to school prepared and ready to learn. Encourage active participation and that your child tries his/her best.
