3 Prepare for Flooding and Storm Surge
The EDGE Information and news that gives you an edge in the real estate business Prepare for Flooding and Storm Surge Houstonians know the human and economic costs of severe weather. Floods in 2015 and 2016 caused 16 deaths and over $1 billion in damage. Additionally, the entire coastal region is particularly vulnerable to the threat of storm surge from a powerful hurricane. In order to address these issues, Houston City Council Members David W. Robinson and Dave Martin and the AIA Houston Chapter Urban Design Committee are hosting an event featuring two panel discussions on flooding and storm surge. Experts from academia, government and advocacy groups will shed light on these challenges and discuss possible solutions. The program takes place this Wednesday, April 5, beginning at 6 p.m. with remarks from Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. The event is full and registration is closed, however, there will be a live stream of the event posted on  is open and free to the public. Don’t miss out on this potentially life-saving conversation!

The EDGE Information and news that gives you an edge in the real estate business Houston Market Movements National housing affordability has clearly become an issue for some buyers during the first quarter of 2017, as prices continue to rise amidst strong demand. Even so, pending sales figures have generally remained positive across the nation. A better balance between high-price inventory and starter homes being sold would be the most beneficial situation for the marketplace. In the Houston region, for the week ending March 26: • New Listings increased 21.0% to 2,953 • Pending Sales increased 28.4% to 2,223 • Closed Sales increased 1.6% to 1,457
