1 Introduction to Physics Class
Procedures for Rm. 110

2 Seating You are seated alphabetically .Your seat may change if students drop or add this class so that the seating and class list match. Papers will be passed out and collected in this order – better for you and for me! Place backpacks under the desks so that pathways are not blocked.

3 Bring These to Class… Minimum 1 inch, 3 ring binder for handouts and notebook paper. Sharpened pencil or a pen Calculator is optional. While understandably convenient, phone apps may not be used in class.

5 Entering Class Obtain your Physics Journal from the front desk.
Take it to your seat and begin the bell work. Start a new page Put the current date on the page Copy the question Write your answer Correct your answer when appropriate Journal Completion is 10 points per week.

6 What About Lateness? Warning – First 3 minor lateness.
Administrative referral after 3. Continued referral each new 3.

7 What About Absences? Work from excused absences must be made up in two days. My afterschool Office hours are 2:30 to 3:15 on most days.

8 Leaving Class? The lav should be used between class periods, not during class periods. Bring all materials you need to class each day. Locker passes are not given. Guidance and nurse passes are given only in the case of an emergency or illness.

9 Lecture and Notetaking
New material will be presented in a variety of ways including video, demonstration and problem solving on the whiteboard. We will use Cornell Style Notes during presentation of new material. You may use photocopied templates or plain notebook paper – whichever you like. Photocopy for your seat partner if he/she is absent.

11 Seat Work Practice activities vary by day and will utilize vocabulary, concepts, symbols, formulas and mathematics. This is individual work to check understanding and review concepts. Bring Textbooks to class. We will use them daily. “3 before me” – Notes, Sample Problem, Textbook.

12 Laboratory Groups of 4 due to equipment availability
Lab Groups stay together for one marking period. Storming, Norming, then Performing! Teacher will choose Lab Groups. No exceptions. You must finish the pre-lab before starting the laboratory. Each student keeps a lab notebook.

13 Laboratory Roles Project Director – responsible for the group
Material Manager-responsible for equipment Technical Manager-responsible for recording data and keeping the notebook Safety Director – responsible for procedures and timekeeping.

14 The Laboratory Notebook
Title Purpose Background Information Data/Tables Calculations showing all units and sig figs. Answers to conclusion/discussion questions in complete sentences.

15 End of Class Procedures
All students must be seated and will be dismissed after the bell rings. Rows will be dismissed when trash is picked up, calculators are put away, desks are aligned, and students are ready. Please push chairs in when you leave!
