1 Talking in Class: What to Know!

2 I love to talk. I talk to kids in my class and sometimes I talk to myself. I talk A LOT in the classroom!

3 There are two problems when I talk in class!
Other kids can’t concentrate. 2. Sometimes it can slow me down when I’m working. Oh man, I can’t concentrate with that talking!!! Oh boy, I did not get done because I was talking.

4 When I talk too much or too loud it bothers the other kids
When I talk too much or too loud it bothers the other kids. Then no one gets their work done. Hey you better stop talking, I can’t get my work done! Man, nobody can get work done! Too loud in here!

5 There are 3 things I can do when I feel like talking in class.
What Can I Do? There are 3 things I can do when I feel like talking in class.

6 1. I can talk during work breaks and when the teacher says it is free time.
I can wait to tell Jason about that movie during lunch!

7 I can use self talk in my head or almost in a whisper so no one can hear.
“Okay I can do this, this is tough but I will try…it is almost recess…”

8 I can do something else to calm myself.
Maybe use a chewy stick. Squeeze putty. Suck on a Jolly Rancher.

9 There are many times and places I can talk – but not loud while doing school work. I don’t want to bother kids and I want to get my work done too! Wow Colin really is trying to be quiet in class…I can concentrate so much better! Yeah for sure…it was hard to do work with so much talking.

10 Talking in Class Rules Talk during free time and use an indoor voice.
When others are working, try not to talk OR talk in a QUIET voice. Talk to friends a break time, lunch time, or recess. If I am anxious, I can ask the teacher to help me or use one of my tools. I can do it!
