A simple/basic description of trial processes and/or personnel involved. This may be only a list. (1-2) Describes in some detail the stages of the trial process, including the personnel involved. (3-4)

3 Who are they? What do they do? Why are they there?
Inside the Courtroom - Court Personnel Who are they? What do they do? Why are they there? INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY - Research and make Pyramid document itemising the following roles within the Court in order of rank: The Defendant (The Accused) The Legal Teams: The Prosecution (Crown Prosecution Service) and The Defence (The Barrister acting on behalf of the accused/defendant) The Judge or Magistrate The Clerk to the Court Court Ushers Witnesses – Victim, Eyewitnesses, Character Witnesses and Experts

4 Research the following ‘processes’; ie: a necessary part of the trial process:
Understand what does each term means and how they connect within a trial? Pre-trial hearing Bail application Roles of each person involved in the trial; ie: the Personnel Plea bargaining – the process between the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Defence team (for the accused) Magistrates Court – Triable either Way – Crown Court – the route to the Crown Court Appeals Process – How and why does this happen?
