Eagle Eyes – Team Lead Ricardo Garcia- Maintenance Mechanic Haz Busters – Team Member My name is Juanita Rodriguez, I am the HR Manager at the SW Victorville, CA plant, I’ve been with the company over 4 years and in HR over 25 (Self intro). Together we are going to introduce to you a safety program that we use at our site. But first, Ricardo is going to give us a Safety Grabber.

3 Safety Grabber! Be aware of dangers when you do any of the following:
Preventive Maintenance Leaks Exposed Wires Worn out parts Missing hardware A safety Grabber is a topic related to safety inside and outside of the workplace. This morning’s Safety Grabber is…. Always be aware of safety hazards around you. So in this case my advise is that every time you do preventive maintenance on machinery look out for potential hazards. For example, leaks, exposed wires, worn out parts, missing hardware.

5 Products & Customers Products Marine Coatings Industrial Maintenance
Traffic Markings Wood Stains Our facility manufactures a variety of paints coatings and stains. For example, marine coatings that you would probably see on navy ships, industrial maintenance such as the Hollywood. CA sign, or traffic markings such as the one seen here and most recently wood stains.

6 THE SNAKE IN THE GRASS! Today we are going to present to you a safety program which has been very successful at our site and thought we would share with you in the event you might want to consider implementing at your workplace. If you’d like a copy of the presentation, we will be more than happy to share it with you, just give us your business card. This program’s main objective is to help find the “snake in the grass” so to speak in regards to safety hazards. We will explain this program in more detail now.

7 Self Inspections Purpose Scope
Requirements: Cal/OSHA Title (a)(4) “include procedures for identifying and evaluating workplace hazards including scheduled periodic inspections to identify unsafe conditions and work practices.” This program entails monthly safety self-inspections performed by members of management and employees. The purpose of self-inspections is to keep our workplace safe find the “Snake in the Grass” so to speak. The scope of this inspections covers all departments and areas of our facility. In addition, it is an important part of our overall safety program as this fulfills the requirements of Cal/OSHA Title (a)(4) (read).

Manager & CSC buy in Divided teams amongst managers/supervisors Created a “Team Name” contest Areas assigned Six month rotation The program steps we took prior to implementation were the following: We presented the concept to the management team, then it was presented to the Central Safety Committee. For example my teams name is Eagle Eyes, others had the Haz Busters, Safety Avengers
