1 Senior Parent Information Meeting
Class of 2018

2 Important Dates Jostens Senior Delivery – March 9th at 9:00 am in Media Center (balance must be paid in full) Senior Dues – March 5th – March 9th Senior Make-Up Delivery – March 23rd during lunch Honors Night – May 10th at 6:00 pm in Cafeteria Parade of Graduates – May 21st at 7:30 am – 9:30 am Senior Banquet – May 24th at 7:00 pm in Cafeteria Graduation – May 25th at 8:00 pm Tiger Stadium

3 Senior Dues $25.00 for every Senior
Pays for Senior Banquet, Gift to Advisors, and Gift to School Deadline is Friday, March 9th (will increase $5.00 every week after deadline) Must be paid in order to march at Graduation

4 Graduation Attire Boys Girls No decoration of any kind on gown or hat
Dark dress shoes Dark pants Collared shirt No tennis shoes or flip flops Girls Dark pants/dark dress Dark shoes (no high heels…wedges are okay) No decoration of any kind on gown or hat

5 College Visits School allows 3 college visits with prior arrangements and approval Obtain prior approval from Mrs. Callaway at least 2 days prior to visit Return prior approval to Mrs. Callaway before visit

6 Admission Tests What test do you need to take?
4- year school – SAT or ACT 2-year school – ACCUPLACER Schools will have different admissions score requirements usually listed on the admissions webpage Have your scores sent directly to the school SAT – ACT – Students need to take a test ASAP!!

Explore and apply to 700 schools across the world Enter information one time and use it to apply to multiple schools Helps students stay on track by sending reminders

11 GPA and HOPE Scholarship
Colleges will use weighted GPA (the school’s GPA found on transcript) This GPA will be different from HOPE GPA  Always check HOPE GPA on GA Futures, since that is the ultimate decision maker regarding HOPE HOPE GPA is calculated using grades for core coursework in English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language The HOPE Scholarship minimum GPA requirement is 3.00 and the Zell Miller Scholarship minimum GPA requirement is 3.70

12 Final Transcripts Although colleges will be making admissions decisions prior to graduation, students must send a final transcript College acceptance is contingent upon student’s graduation and receipt of his/her final transcript Students need to stay focused!

13 Scholarships All scholarship information is posted on the school website Hard copies may be picked up in Mrs. Callaway’s office Do not wait until the last minute Begin writing essays and asking for teacher recommendations now Provide teachers with information for recommendations and allow enough time for teachers to complete Most scholarships are due by end of January-February

14 Georgia Apply to College Month
State wide sponsored event Builds school excitement around going to college We have set aside a day during which all seniors will have the opportunity to focus on completing at least one application for admission They will receive the encouragement and assistance of high school staff volunteers Date: Monday, November 6th during Advisement

15 FAFSA FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid)
Everyone who is getting ready to go to college/technical school should fill out the FAFSA form Covers expenses like tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation and other related expenses Determines eligibility for Federal Student Aid, State Financial Aid, Institutional Financial Aid, and Private Financial Aid Student loans

16 Getting Started with FAFSA
Use the website fafsa.ed.gov Create a FSA ID – memorable username and password unique to you It is recommended that you provide a mobile phone number and address in case you need to unlock your account, forget your username or to reset your password A parent might need a FSA ID as well You will need your Social Security number, full name, and date of birth

Social Security number Driver’s license (if any) Permanent resident card, resident alien card, or alien registration card (if applicable) W-2 forms and other records of money earned 2016 income tax returns Records of child support paid Records of taxable earnings Current stock, bond, and other investment records Current business, farm records, bank statements
