2 Time management? A system of practical skills that allows a person to use time in the best way possible.

Using time more effectively Improving enjoyment of activities Providing time for relaxing and enjoying life.

5 First step of time management
Keep an activity log for a period of several days. This allows a person to determine how he/she actually uses the time available. This log allows people to learn to organize time.

6 Time management plan used to ensure success in meeting established goals daily planner and calendar This tools allow an individual to write everything down, organize all information, become aware of conflicts, and provide an organized schedule to follow.

7 Seven steps to effective time management
Analyze and prioritize Identify habits and preferences Schedule tasks Make a daily “to do” list Plan your work Avoid distractions Take credit for a job well done

8 Goal/Goal Setting

9 What is a Goal? A desired result or purpose toward which one is working. Old Saying “ If you don’t know where you are going, you will never get there.”

10 Goal setting? Important factor of time management.
Allows you to know where you are going and provide direction to your life.

11 Goal setting? short and long term goals
Long term goals – achievements that may take a period of years or even a lifetime to accomplish.

12 Goal setting? Short term – usually take days, weeks, or months to accomplish. Each individual has to establish his/her own goal. change constantly Accomplishing, leads to satisfaction and provides motivation for a new goal.

13 Effective goal setting
State goals in positive manner – use words such as accomplish rather than avoid. Define clearly and precisely – set a time limit to accomplish the goal Prioritize – most to least important

14 Effective goal setting
Write goals down – this makes goals seem real and attainable. Make sure each goal is at the right level – goals should be challenging but not too difficult to complete.

15 Ineffective Goals If you fail in obtaining a goal, evaluate the situation and determine why you fail. Setting goals too high could lead to failure. However, failure can be a positive learning experience.

16 Summary Life is a choice. It can be positive or negative.
You are the master of your life, everyone else is an observer or part of your support system Help others improve your life, as well as theirs Live and let live.
