Thinking about staging a play Where should people be on stage? How should they move? What do we need to act it out?

4 EXIT SLIP What did you learn about the family feud?
How does it affect the entire town? What more did you learn about the characters that you have been putting on your posters? If you had Shakespeare, Venice, or Elizabethan fashion, what did you learn about your topic from our reading today?

5 Adding to Our Posters Under each character/picture, write down three words that sum up their characteristics (from the reading or your research)

6 Poster Share Taking your character sheet with you, go around the room and look at each poster. At each place, jot down one comment or question you have about the characters or settings depicted on the posters. Be prepared to share at least one question when we sit back down in 10 minutes. Examine other beauties” “Tut man, one fire burns out another’s burning; One pain is lessened by another’s anguish.” Paris 1.2.12 “Younger than she are happy mothers made.” Paris thinks marriage is good, no matter what age. Get the Gist!

11 Let’s Discuss: Then, pick one of these questions to answer in an exit slip. What is the effect of having such a variety of experiences, feelings and attitudes about love and marriage in one play? What are some complications that might arise because of these different view points? In addition to the feud, what are some other problems the lovers will encounter? Why did Shakespeare put hate & fighting in the same Act as all of these discussions about love?
