2. We launched our Speak out Stay safe programme so that generations of children have the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe from abuse and neglect.

3. The programme supports you in
helping children to:
understand abuse in all its forms
and recognise the signs of abuse
know how to protect themselves
from all forms of abuse
know how to get help, and the
sources of help available to them,
including our Childline service.

4. The programme provides child-friendly, interactive assemblies for:

It helps with your responsibility to provide evidence that your school is meeting safeguarding inspection requirements.

5. How we work in primary schools
We aim to reach every primary school in the UK and visit schools on a 3 year rolling programme.
The programme is delivered free of charge. However schools will be offered the opportunity to fundraise for the NSPCC if they wish.

Alongside our Speak out. Stay safe. programme the NSPCC has a range of information, advice and resources for schools to support them in keeping children safe. These fall under the umbrella of the NSPCC Schools Service.

26. The Underwear Rule
The Talk PANTS campaign helps parents of 4-11 year-olds keep their children safe from abuse. Like the Green Cross Code, it takes a potentially tricky subject and gives teachers and parents the tools to talk about it in an engaging and age-appropriate way without mentioning scary words or sex.
We offer simple guides for teachers, parents and children to help them to talk PANTS and learn our simple acronym.
The messages of PANTS are:

28. Ongoing NSPCC research demonstrates that child abuse, bullying and domestic violence have a pervasive and detrimental impact on children and young people. Schools are seen as having an important role in the delivery of the preventative curriculum, teaching children the knowledge and skills they need to help protect themselves from all forms of abuse. It is suggested that abuse is still under-reported by children. This is a problem that is often compounded by barriers to seeking help, such as not being listened to or believed by adults. The Talk PANTS teaching resources aims to help schools, teachers and children to address some of these issues.
