3. Figurative Language
Imagery- vivid, description language, that appeals to one or more of the senses. Figurative language is often used to create mental images.
Example: The gushing brook stole its way down the lush green mountains, dotted with tiny flowers in a riot of colors and trees coming alive with gaily chirping birds.
Symbols- Something that represents something, especially a material object used to represent something abstract.
Example: The lamb is a symbol of innocence.
