6 Components of the Paint Interface
Menu bar Title bar Displays the title of the picture along with the name of the application Contains a list of menus Each menu displays a set of commands When a command is clicked, Paint performs the corresponding action

7 Components of the Paint Interface (Contd..)
Drawing area Tool box Contains a set of buttons, which is used in the creation of artwork Also referred to as canvas Is the area where you draw pictures Color box Consists of a set of colours, which is used to draw or colour pictures The pictures that are drawn in Paint are called bitmap images

8 Paint Tools Magnifier Curve Polygon Text Air brush Rectangle Ellipse
Select Line Free-Form Select Fill With Color Rounded Rectangle Eraser/ Color Eraser Pick Color Brush Pencil Used to draw curved lines Used to draw irregular shapes like trapezium, hexagon and pentagon Used to draw rectangles with rounded corners Used to draw ellipses and circles Used to draw rectangles, squares, cubes and cuboids Used to draw a free-form line and colour a picture Used to fill a picture with colours in the color box Used to erase a small area Used to select a rectangular area of a picture Used to select a free-form area of a picture Used to copy colour from one area or object to another Used to zoom the picture in the canvas area Used to type and format text Used to spray colour in the drawing area Used to draw a free-form line Used to draw geometric shapes

9 Drawing a Free-Form Line
To create a free-form drawing: Drag the mouse pointer on the drawing area to draw the ground surface and the seed as shown Click the pencil tool Dragging refers to moving an item on the screen by selecting the item, and then pressing and holding down the mouse button while moving the mouse

10 Resizing the Drawing Area
To resize the drawing area: 1. Point to the bottom right corner of the drawing area. You can also point to the centre of the bottom or right side of the drawing area The mouse pointer changes to , or respectively. These are called resize handles. 2. Drag the resize handle forward or backward to increase or decrease the size of the drawing area.

11 Erasing the Drawing To erase a small area: Click the eraser tool
Drag the pointer over the area that you want to erase For example, erase this part of the line Click the eraser size from the bottom of the toolbox You can also erase larger areas by selecting an eraser of a larger size from the bottom of the toolbox.
