2 Clive staples Lewis 29 November 1898 - 22 November 1963
“In writing, don't use adjectives which merely tell us how you want us to feel about the thing you are describing. I mean, instead of telling us a thing was "terrible“, describe it so that we'll be terrified. Don't say it was "delightful"; make us say "delightful" when we've read the description.” – C.S Lewis

5 C.S Lewis and his creative process (Primary source)
Source: “Surprised By Joy” – C.S Lewis’ Autobiography – Page 27 The “unteachable”. Why? – Only one joint in his thumb. Meaning: He could not carry out required/set tasks. However, he started to try and make cardboard castles, boats, houses and so on. When the models didn’t go to plan, he was “driven to write stories”. - This became a big success for C.S Lewis, which made him become a famous writer. “You can do more with a castle in a story than with the best cardboard castle that ever stood on a nursery table.”

6 About C.S Lewis by The Famous (Secondary Source)
“The future is something which everyone reaches at the rate of 60 minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is.”  About C.S Lewis by The Famous (Secondary Source) 1) 2) “A man of contrasts”, and “an extremely clever person, but a total incompetent”. - AN Wilson It took him ten years to write poetry, and when it was published it “such a flop”. - AN Wilson “A man at once honest, brave, intellectual–a scholar, a poet, and a philosopher– and a lover, at least after a long pilgrimage, of Our Lord.” - J.R.R.Tolkien "It is sad that 'Narnia' and all that part of C.S Lewis' work should remain outside the range of my sympathy, as much of my work was outside his.“ - J.R.R.Tolkien Source 1: BBC iPlayer – BBC Four Documentary Narnia's Lost Poet: The Secret Lives and Loves of CS Lewis Source 2:

7 How and why c.s lewis has influenced me
“Miracles do not, in fact, break the laws of nature.” How and why c.s lewis has influenced me How? Started to write my own Fantasy franchise(s). Created my own world and species in my own fantasy screenplay. (Edited and feedback provided by UoP Lecturer John Caro.) Made me realise that books, stories and imagination don’t have to be all so serious and are run exactly how you want it to. Why? A chance to create and elaborate on a world of your own. Imagination! Meet the people you’ll never meet. Gripping! Once you start the Narnia franchise, you can’t let go.

We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be.”
