5 New paradigms in recognition
Erasmus+ project, April 2016 – March 2018 Systems of automatic recognition (Yerevan communiqué) Methodology for recognition of non-traditional learning Project team: NARICs of NL, FR, DK, LT, NO, PO, IR, SI, BE(FL)

6 New paradigms in recognition
Traditional learning: QA/accreditation required for evaluation of foreign qualifications Otherwise : WE DON’T KNOW (but it might be excellent) Credential evaluators don’t have the time, expertise and resources to establish the quality of educational programmes We need transparent and objective information that can be processed within 1 hour

7 New paradigms in recognition
5 elements of a qualification: Level NQF Quality QA Workload ECTS Profile DS Learning Outcomes NQF / DS Good practice: EAR-HEI manual

8 National Qualifications Framework - NLQF

9 New paradigms in recognition
In-company training Example: relation management at ABN AMRO Referenced to NQF level 6, providing: - NQF level - QA - generic learning outcomes EAR-HEI manual  non-accredited but legitimate institutions

10 New paradigms in recognition
MOOCS Example: MOOCS forming part of a HE programme Level: via level of degree QA: via accreditation of programme Credits: expressed in credit system of HEI Good practice: “MOOCs and online HE – A survey” NVAO (2014) EAR-HEI manual  a collection of credits is not a degree

11 JRC Science for Policy Report – Validation of Non-formal MOOC-based Learning (2016)

12 New paradigms in recognition
Authenticity and verification Robustness of assessment Credentialisation Groningen Declaration initiatives in making accessible reliable electronic student data might be very helpful
