How many trikes can they put wheels on?
42 ÷ 3 = ? Multiplication with holes…
So ☐ x 3 = 42
10 x 3 = Start with what you know
12 How many wheels left?
4 x 3 = Use what you know
0 How many wheels left?
14 trikes can be fitted with wheels, and there will be 0 spare wheels.
Agree that are ten 3s in 30 and four 3s in 12, so there are fourteen 3s in 42.  Use the animation to gradually reveal working out.
