4 What is expected from you
Learn, and don’t Memorize Develop Engineering judgments Participate and do not Fantasize Concentrate Have plenty of Patience Don’t become a keyboard engineer Have a realistic sense of achievement

5 Resources Class textbook Lectures material Laboratory book
“Electric Energy: An Introduction,” Second Edition Mohamed A. El-Sharkawi. CRC Press Lectures material Laboratory book Internet and Libraries

6 Office Hours El-Sharkawi: TA: Check Class Web Site (RM 307N)

7 General Policy Individual efforts Problem solving HW Exams
Group efforts Projects HW Labs

8 Laboratory NO food or drinks are allowed in the lab.
Prelab quiz will be given the day of the experiment Objectives of the experiment How to perform the experiments What equipment you may need NO food or drinks are allowed in the lab.

9 Laboratory During the lab Students form lab groups of 3 per bench. Each member of the group must have distinctive role. Adhere to all safety rules. NEVER connect your circuit to the power source before the TA approves your connections, settings and procedure. 5% of your grade is based on your ACTIVE PARTICIPATION in the lab.

10 Laboratory Lab reports One lab report per group
Each member in the group must identify his part in the report. Report must have (as a minimum) the following components: Objectives Circuit and instrumentation Data collected and how it is collected What you have learned from the experiment Conclusions

11 Mandatory Review On their own, all students are required to review Chapter 7: AC Circuits. Homework on Chapter 7 is assigned on the class web site
