Demonstrate local success: best practice in a program, innovative pilot, demonstrable outcomes for narrowly defined geography or population
Disseminate approach
Replicate approach and expand the number positively impacted
Change Systems
Diagnose underlying system causes of problem
Pursue strategies that impact the policies and practices that impact the systemic barriers
Recalibrate based on assessment of progress
Adapt to changing context
Institutionalize policy and practice changes

Health is everything; but the approach can’t be everything
Start with a strong, motivated, and credible champion
Seek early proof-of-concept wins
Remember, the goal is affecting change in communities; and so they need to be integrally involved
Health investments may not appear too dramatically different, but aspire with a framework of aligning incentives, new funders, and value capture
