Math – (1.G.3a) I can divide a circle and rectangle into 2 and 4 equal parts. (1.G.3b) I can describe the equal parts of a circle and rectangle using the words halves, fourths, and quarters. (1.G.3c) I can use the phrases half of, fourth of and quarter of to describe the equal parts of a circle and rectangle. ELA – (1.RL.9a) I can state what is the same about characters in two stories. (1.RL.9b) I can state what is different about characters in two stories. (1.W.3c) I can write sequencing words to show the order of events. Social Studies – (1.H.1.2) I can explain the importance of neighborhood celebrations. (1.H.1.3) I can describe the different national holidays and why they are celebrated. Letterland: Unit Eleven Students will learn how to blend s with seven other consonants at the beginning of words and continue to sort words by short vowel sounds. Students are placed on each list, depending on how they did on the Pre-Test. Our Spelling test on these words will be on Friday. Your child will only be tested on the list that they were placed on Penguin Patch Christmas Shoppe Coddle Creek would like to welcome Penguin Patch Christmas Shoppe to our school the week of Dec 12-16, children will be able to shop on a budget of under $10 for gifts for Family and Friends!!  Christmas Around the World First grade will be starting a Christmas Around the World unit, where we will study 8 to 10 different countries and how they celebrate Christmas. Students will create a suitcase and map to take along as they travel to each country, like Germany, Mexico, Sweden, Italy, and the USA to name a few. The students will have a blast learning!
