4 Definition of employee empowerment.
Employee empowerment generally means the process of allowing employees to have input and control over their work, and the ability to openly share suggestions and ideas about their work and the organization as a whole. Employee empowerment means different things in different organizations, based on culture and work design. Empowered employees are committed, loyal and conscientious. They are eager to share ideas and can serve as strong ambassadors for their organization

8 Ways of employee empowerment.
1. Foster Open Communication Employee empowerment give employees structured ways to make their thoughts, feelings and observations known easily and regularly. Help them understand that their input is valued even if you decide to go a different way. Make sure you acknowledge them for sharing and reward valuable input that helps the company. 2. Encourage Safe Failure Many employees, by their very nature, are risk-adverse.  That's why they are employees and not entrepreneurs. If they work in an environment where the boss is always correcting them before they have a chance to execute, they will constantly look for approval before taking action or, worse, simply avoid any new or dynamic action. Give employees the opportunity to try new things in a way that doesn't put the company in danger. Create milestone checkpoints or set up laboratory environments where people can test new ideas and learn from the failures as well as the successes. Then your employees will gain understanding and feel comfortable innovating.

9 Ways of employee empowerment
3. Clearly Define Roles People who don't know what they are supposed to do can't do it very well. Additionally, they need to know their boundaries so they don't step on others' toes or create inefficiency through redundancy. Establish specific roles and responsibilities with employees so all are clear and can work together cooperatively. 4. Require Accountability People need to know when they are meeting expectations and, more importantly, when they are not. No one will maintain accountabilityif they don't understand the consequences of failure. And if they see others not being held accountable, they will see little need to make the extra effort for success. Be consistent and diligent in your measurement and rewards so employees are motivated to do their best.

10 Ways of employee empowerment
5. Support Their Independence A leader who is constantly looking over the shoulder of employees is little more than a babysitter. Give your employees reasons and opportunity to stretch out on their own and even lead others. They may stumble, but they'll learn a lot and build the respect of their colleagues while preparing to be great empowering leadersthemselves someday. 6. Appreciate Their Efforts Appreciating employees work is important. Best employees don't work just for the money. Empowered people need a greater level of satisfaction than simply financial stability. They need to feel that leadership appreciates their contribution and values their participation.Saying"thank you" or celebrating the good things employees do can help them boost up.

11 Requirements of employee empowerment
As these examples show, employee empowerment requires: Training in the skills necessary to carry out the additional responsibilities. Access to information on which decisions can be made. Initiative and confidence on the part of the employee to take on greater responsibility. Employee empowerment also means giving up some of the power traditionally held by management, which means managers also must take on new roles, knowledge and responsibilities. It does not mean that management relinquishes all authority, totally delegates decision-making and allows operations to run without accountability. It requires a significant investment of time and effort to develop mutual trust, assess and add to individuals' capabilities and develop clear agreements about roles, responsibilities, risk taking and boundaries.

12 Results of employee empowerment
The results, when this process is done right, are heightened productivity and a better quality of work life. Empowered employees provide exceptional service . "Empowered employees have the power to make decisions without a supervisor. They are entitled to go off script, bend the rules, do what they see fit if they believe it is the right thing to do for the customer. More than any other kind of employee, the empowered employee is able to create a feeling of true customer service that ultimately yields much greater customer loyalty.
