10 Race Procedures Race start on Friday 23rd June at 10:00 from the Mount Errigal Hotel. Solo riders leave first at 1-minute intervals, followed by two-person teams, four-person teams and finally eight-person teams. Start times will be released on race week. It is recommended that all members of a team leave the start ramp. In other words, a team of two starts with both cyclists and a team of four starts with all four cyclists. All members of a team must ride together until they reach the Dry Arch Roundabout. For the rest of the Race, only one cyclist per team is required to be on the route at any particular time. Crew vehicles will be assembled in the car park opposite the hotel and will filter into the race as their rider passes by.

11 Race Procedures - Teams -
In team events, only one rider shall be on the road except when exchanging of cyclists. Teams can change cyclists as often as they wish, however any exchange should only take place when the traffic situation allows it. The cyclist who is taking over should be riding at slow speed, when both cyclists are on a level with each other, the exchange is completed without the cyclists having to touch each other. The crew car then overtakes the cyclist and accompanies the new cyclist or picks up the former (only possible during the day). Exchanges of cyclists during the night have to take place within the light beam of the pace car. When in doubt, it is better to stop briefly in order to make an exchange and then continue the race with the new cyclist.

12 Race Procedures - Check Points -
All race categories are required to log their details on arrival at all 13 check points. It is not necessary for the rider to stop at these CPs, with the exception of CP7, where a rider sign-on is required. Any un-manned checkpoints will require the crew to text-in your CP location and time to the race director on the number provided at registration. Failure to log details at any of these check points will result in time-penalties.

13 Race Procedures - GPS Tracker -
GPS tracking will be used during the race. Each rider/team will be provided with a tracker at registration. The tracker should be in possession of the rider on the road. Web tracking will be closely monitored by race personnel throughout, so any deviation from race route will be visible. A “url link” for the tracker will be available so family and friends can follow your progress.

14 Required Equipment Rider – Fully serviced bike/bikes; Helmet;
At least one front light and one red rear light, with spare batteries; Clothing for all weather conditions, including high-viz for night riding. Sufficient nutrition. Crew – Food for athlete and crew; Bike tools and spares; First Aid Kit; Mobile phone to text/call the race control; Reflective safety vest for all crew members (at night); Navigational system for GPS track; Flashing orange light for roof of support vehicle; Recommended- Simple radio equipment between escort vehicle and rider.

15 Support Vehicle Each cyclist/team must have one follow vehicle with at least two crew members. The support vehicle is the only vehicle that is allowed to follow directly behind the cyclist. At race registration: - The support vehicle will be inspected for road worthiness, therefore insurance, road tax and nct must all be valid. Do not expect to race if the vehicle is considered un-roadworthy. - The drivers on the crew must be present and produce their driver licence. - The support vehicle must be equipped with a flashing orange light. - Crews will be supplied with race stickers “Caution Bicycles Ahead” sign and your “race number”. You will be penalized if you hold up traffic or form a caravan with one or more other support vehicles. During the day, the support vehicle can, but is not required to, follow directly behind the cyclist. At night, however, the support vehicle must follow directly behind the cyclist at all times.

16 Night-time Cycling/Driving
Night time is considered to be between the hours of 8 p.m. (20:00) and 6:30 a.m. (06:30). The night time rules may also be applied outside of these hours due to weather conditions such as poor visibility or fog. Bikes must have at least one front light and one red rear light. Cyclists must have high visibility clothing on. During this time period, the support vehicle must accompany the cyclist on the road. Therefore, whenever the support vehicle stops, the cyclist must stop, and whenever the cyclist stops, the support vehicle must stop. At night, the cyclist must remain within the light beam of the support vehicle . Crewmembers must wear reflective vests whenever they exit their vehicle. Your safety is our number one priority.

17 Registration and Race Brief
Thursday 22nd June:  - Registration in the Mount Errigal Hotel 14:00-19:00. - Race pack collection. - Signing of race waivers by all riders and crew members. - Support vehicle check. - Race brief 19:30.
