THEATER ARTS COURSE DESCRIPTION AND EXPECTATIONS

2 I have a secret to tell you. This is my favorite course to teach
I have a secret to tell you. This is my favorite course to teach! You are going to have a GREAT time but you will be very busy! In one year this course will explore the whole world of theater arts. “ COOLEST COURSE AT MHS !!!!

3 We will start with lots of theater exercises, including movement, mental agility activities and improvisation work. After building our confidence, skills and our sense of community we will begin working with scripts and plays to be performed in class. Later we will compare and contrast genres of theater which will lead to the writing and directing of your own original story line and script. Your play will then be performed with your classmates in the starring roles and YOU as director WHAT WILL I DO HERE??

4 How will I be graded? Assignments may include any of the following…
Assessments: Class Participation – it’s vital in this course! - and is graded daily Reflection papers will be worth 50 points. The writing and directing experience is broken into sections and is worth a total of 300 points. Assignments are due at the beginning of class on the given due date. How will I be graded?

5 You will, of course, be expected to follow the MHS expectations of : Be Responsible (for your work, your materials and the art room), Be Respectful (to each other , to me and to the art room environment) and Be Proud of all you do in here!” Behavior….

6 Procedures Knowing what to do and when to do it!
Please come to class on time and put your belongings on the shelves provided. Sit in your assigned seat until attendance is taken No cell phone use, headphones, food or drink in the room. Listen carefully whenever directions, demonstrations or teacher comments occur. Please do not speak to someone else while I am speaking to the class. Ask permission to use the lavatory and sign out and in on the sheet provided. At the end of class return desks to their former position Stay in your seat until I dismiss you.
