It’s elaborating plans with the available elements. These plans must be based, defined, oriented, assessed and controled.
The fact of planning has allowed Mankind to solve almost the total amount of our problems. Planning is one of the key functions in the companies and organizations.
It appears as the projection of the objectives, intended to achieve with the appropriate methods.

Observe how each figure contributes with information!!
Squares inform of a task: screwing, assembling, cutting, etc.
Circles are meeting points for the different paths that converge on the same point.
Diamonds are decision points, points of quality control or inspection times. They usually have two possible answers (yes / no) (Accept / Reject), etc.
Arrows are transitions between tasks and might indicate the transportation of material as well.
The termination of a flow diagram must be specified with an explicit message.
