The main idea Famous people have high points ( good times )
and low points ( bad times ) in their lives. Charles Lindbergh won a flying in his plane, the Spirit of St. Louis ( a high point in his life) Someone kidnapped his first child on March 2, ( a low point in his life )

Synonyms A synonym is a word with similar meaning .

Grammar The Simple Past :
We use the simple past when we refer to an action which started and ended in the past. We add ed or d to the regular verb when we change it into the simple past . land ……> landed arrive……> arrived carry…….> carried play……..> played

The simple past Irregular verbs have special forms go ……> went
become…..> became do ……….> did fly ……..> flew take ……> took think……> thought eat ……..> ate drink ……> drank

The simple past Negative form:
We use did not ( didn’t ) before the verb ( infinitive) didn’t + infinitive ( the base ) She arrived at 6 yesterday. ( use not ) She didn’t arrive at 6 yesterday. They flew to Paris last week. ( use not ) They didn’t fly to Paris last week.

The simple past Yes/ No questions : Did you get your book yesterday ?
Yes , I did – No , I didn’t Did she become a nurse ? Yes , she did – No, she didn’t

The simple past Wh questions : Where did you go yesterday evening ?
I went shopping. Why did you feel worried yesterday? I had a test . How did you reach the place ? I reached the place by using a map.

They are used while writing about events in order or steps in a process.

Using time order words Yesterday I was very busy. First, I went to my office . I arranged some files there. Then, I started to type some letters . I also sent some s. Next, I finished writing my weekly report and submitted it to my boss. Later, I got some new instructions from my boss. Finally, I returned home , but I felt very tired. It was really a very busy day.
