11 Conclusions Increasing NAMA development activity across the world
Tripling of NAMAs in the database between first issue (October 2011) and last comprehensive update (May 2012) Focus on strategic, long-term, comprehensive, transformational measures and national priorities short term GHG reductions are not necessarily priority Co benefits important (often key drivers) Scope of emission reductions much larger than, for example, the CDM Few NAMAs in implementation phase NAMA support currently focusing on NAMA development not implementation 18/06/2018 Frauke Röser

12 Annual Status Report on NAMAs
First Status Report published for COP Durban in December 2011 Mid year update in May 2012 Supported by ICI Germany Partnership between ECN and Ecofys 18/06/2018 Frauke Röser

13 Financing NAMAs Clear and transparent criteria for fundable NAMA proposals which balance donor interests and the needs and circumstances of developing countries. Reliable climate finance for NAMA implementation at scale large enough to enable deep mitigation action. Practical experience to demonstrate how the private sector can be involved in NAMA finance. 18/06/2018 Frauke Röser

14 Monitoring NAMAs Concrete and clear examples of MRV of different types of NAMAs. Sufficient attention for the MRV of support in order to build trust and ensure credibility of the NAMA concept. 18/06/2018 Frauke Röser

15 Operationalising NAMAs
Progressing with the NAMA registry and developing the match making facility based on feedback from Parties Coordination of NAMA activities at national level and creation of national focal points to streamline and make official the communication with the registry Increased feedback and communication between NAMA practitioners and negotiators to ensure that practical experience is duly reflected in the policy process 18/06/2018 Frauke Röser

16 Annual Status Report 2012 To be published in time for COP18 Qatar
Larger scope based on collaborative effort between Ecofys, ECN, CCAP, WRI, GIZ Content Section on recent trends Policy framework (UNFCCC) NAMA development activities in countries (NAMA database) NAMA support activities Contributions by participating organisations on specific topics of interest (e.g. finance, MRV, NAMA tools) Where progress is most needed – based on lessons learned so far 18/06/2018 Frauke Röser
