16 Agricultural chemical use

17 Droplet drift – Boom spray
Contributing Factors Small droplets (high pressure, small nozzles). Strong wind (>15km/hr). High boom setting.

18 Droplet drift – Off target
Decreasing concentration Look at the indicators: Combination of chemical and susceptible plants. Concentration gradient Glyphosate droplet drift across a maturing wheat crop

19 Vapour drift - 2,4-D damage
Affected Unaffected

22 Benefits of record keeping
Demonstrates assessment of risks Reference of past practices Evaluate effectiveness of chemicals Save time and $$$ Chemical use records can provide many benefits. Records demonstrate that you have assessed risks when applying chemicals. Useful data that can be referred back to evaluate the effectiveness of a chemical, what, how much and what was used when, and to keep a check on withholding periods. Accurate records may be used as evidence if there is a spray drift dispute. Record keeping templates can be downloaded from the DEPI website under ‘Record keeping’.
