Narrated by multiple characters, the novel incorporates a significant amount of Spanglish as well as references to fantasy and science fiction films and books.

Read whenever you want (as long as you are not driving or attending class).
Don’t worry about reading too fast or too slow.
You are allowed to read on electronic devices.
You are allowed to write in books and bend the pages.
You don’t have to apologize for skimming or rereading.
You can fall asleep while reading or stay up way too late.
You can stop reading a book before you finish it. Or you can reread a book you really love.
Learning to read for pleasure is completely up to you!
