2 Math Extra Notes Now that we have begun Unit 3 in our reading unit, students will now be tested on how many words they can read in a story in 1 minute. You will receive a handout telling you how many words they read. By the end of the 3rd nine weeks they should be reading words. Our goal is to have your child reading 60 words by the end of the year. One way that you can help us is to make sure your child reads to you everyday. Studies show that the more a child reads the better they will become at reading. We have been working hard this week with helping your child understand place value of ones and tens. One way you can help your child is to review this concept with them. Ask them how many tens and ones (longs & cubes) are in a number. Also, please continue to work with your child on their math facts. We appreciate the help and support you give us. Ch. 5 Students took The Everyday Math Midyear Assessment test on the computer this past week. This gave them the opportunity to experience what will be happening in the future. Looking into the future students will eventually be taking tests on computers.
