Conventional Forcible Entry—Door Swinging Toward the Forcible Entry Team

A Check the door to determine swing; the number, type, and location of locking devices; and the type of door frame and hinges.

3 B Create a gap between the door and jamb by driving the adz or fork end of the Halligan tool between the door and frame 6 inches above or below the lock. JPR 17-2B

4 C On tight doors, the gap may be started with the fork end.

5 D If door is tight, work tool up and down to open up gap.

6 E Set the tool by driving the adz or fork
end past the door around the doorstop. JPR 17-2E

7 F This inside view shows
how the adz is set. JPR 17-2F

8 G Force the door by pulling the
tool away from the door. JPR 17-2G
