As we move into the second week of school, please continue to read for at least 10 minutes every night, and fill out the reading log in your child’s take home folder. Mark if your child read by themselves, with you, or if you read to them. Your child will also have 1 page of math homework every night. This helps reinforce the math work we do in class. If you are not sure what homework your child has, look in their agenda notebook. We write the homework every night. Speaking of homework, your child will bring home a take home folder every day. Please help your child stay organized by looking through it every day. Papers on the left side are meant to be left at home and papers on the right side are meant to be returned right back to school (usually homework or something for you to sign and return). Thank you for your help! Dates to remember 9/5 No School – Labor Day 9/8 Curriculum Night Thank You, Mrs. Reimers

4 class news Mrs. Reimers’ Week of September 19 ereimers@asd4.org
A note from the teacher: Wondering how to help your child with math and reading concepts at home? Use toys they like to play with to make simple addition problems (i.e. I caught 2 pokemon, and you caught 4 pokemon. How many pokemon did we catch in all?). This works well if you can have your child model the addition problem with real life objects such as food, legos, books, dolls, or whatever toys you may already have. Read for at least 10 minutes every day! Your child should be able to sound out simple 3-4 letter words that contain 1 vowel and 2 consonants such as pick, hat, ant, can, etc. Having your child sound out these types of words increases their confidence and fluency. What we Are Learning Math: Addition Concepts (learning what it mans to add, finding ways to make the numbers 4-10) Reading: Comprehension Skill – sequencing, main idea/details Word Family Words: pick, pack, tack, back, sack, sick, big, is Sight Words: help, now, have, too, want Social Studies: Time For School – the importance of school, groups, and rules Dates to remember 9/22 First Day of Fall 9/28 Fall Picture Day Classroom Wish List Old magazines (suitable for cutting up) Old puzzles or board game for indoor recess Thank You, Mrs. Reimers
