Mrs. Chapman English I and II Welcome to Back to School Night. Thank you for coming and supporting your student.

I am happy to be here this evening. I am a new face to some of you and to others I am not. I have been in this district since Previously, I worked for Apply Valley from 1997 to Through a series of events, my journey in education has led me to RIM. 3 RIM PRIDE: Behavior expectation matrix
EXPECTATIONS CLASSROOM HALLWAYS/COMMONS CAFETERIA RESTROOMS BUS/OUTSIDE EVENTS/ASSEMBLIES Positive Participate. Be Prepared. Keep moving during passing period. Speak kindly in the halls. Be polite, use appropriate language. Use is appropriately. Wash your hands. Keep it clean. Follow the instructions of staff and bus drivers. Listen, follow directions, use appropriate language. Respect Use appropriate language. Follow directions. Have a hall pass when you are not in class. Follow instructions. Wait your turn to get food. Be responsible with restroom equipment. Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. Address all people with respect. Integrity Do your own work. Be where you are supposed to be. Speak softly, without yelling in the halls. Pay for all items. Use your own student number. This is a smoke free, tobacco free, and drug free campus. Obey all bus rules. Follow rules and procedures. Dependability Be on task and on time. Electronic devices off during class. Get to class on time. Clean up after yourself. Put trash in the trash cans. Leave the restroom clean. Be where you are supposed to be. Keep the bus clean. Give your best effort. Effort toward graduation Turn in assignments. Attend all classes. Make your best effort to be at school, on-time regularly. Use lunch-time to eat. Use restroom between classes. Use the bus to get to school on-time. Focus on learning. To be successful, you need a set of plans… Benjamin Franklin supposedly once said, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” We as a RIM family want to help your students be as successful as possible and in so doing we have a plan…behavior expectations so everyone is on the same plan, page or play book. My classroom expectations are aligned with RIM PRIDE behavior expectations

4 Policies and procedures:
Prompt- Being on time to class show respect for yourself and others. Prepared- Being prepared will help you stay focused on your goal to graduate high school prepared for your future. Productive- Being productive makes the time you spend in class meaningful. Polite- Being polite makes you and others more fun to be around. It's just nice to be nice.  Patient- Being patient shows you have empathy for other's situations. We all have "off" days. Let's be patient with each other Consequences:* Verbal warning Moved to different seat in class Parent contacted/conference Written Referral and dismissal from class to Office Suspension- at the teacher’s discretion These 5 Ps are not only to help your student have the most successful educational year possible, but to also have skills that will transition them into college, technical training programs, and or the work force. 5 Ps of maturity

5 Class Norms: No Electronic Devices. All cell phones, mp3 players, tablets, etc, are to be put away during class time to allow for student participation and discussion. Electronic devices will be confiscated at the teacher’s discretion.* Communicate clearly and effectively with peers, teachers, and other support staff. Misunderstandings can be easily rectified with appropriate communication. This is a skill you will need throughout life and in the workforce. Be seated in a desk when the bell rings and be ready to begin at the start of class. Listen and follow all instructions the first time given. If you don’t understand something, ASK. Ask to use the restroom. A hall pass is required to leave the class during class time. FIRST 10 -LAST 10- NO CLASS PASSES THE FIRST/LAST 10 MIN. OF CLASS

Class schedule- see board First ten last ten- standards based bell work Assignments-standard, objective, assessment, review as needed While you were out Grades, Aeries (parent and student access), progress reports Preparation prevents poor performance Departmental Student Learning Outcomes C POLICY= all assignment completed/turned in, all tests taken, attendance Communication- ask, Responsibility- teacher=teach, student= learn, parent=support student and teacher It will not always be easy, but it will be worth it.
