5 Advancing Mobile Learning
Commandant/Provost initiative for USAWC to support mobile learners Classification of curriculum (UnClass/NON-FOUO/Public releasable) Consideration of copyright and academic databases Approval from DA CIO/G6 for an operational assessment of cloud technology (based on DoD strategy)

6 Cloud Storage Small group of War College faculty and 3 resident seminars (~60 folks) set out to evaluate Box Received DA CIO/G6 approval for a formal Operational Assessment of Box for both resident and distance education courses at Army War College Benefit: Army War College focuses on curriculum while the cloud vendor focuses on apps and supporting device-agnostic connection Two lines of effort are emerging: Delivery of education (Students and faculty) Outreach (Army War College Institutes interfacing with their community of practice)

7 Next Steps 01 NOV 12 - Full rollout of Box to faculty, staff and students (226 managed users to date) 06 NOV 12 - Piloting 3 DISA iPads with Good MDM 28 FEB 13 – Issue devices to students, faculty and select staff to “bridge” gap for users without devices MAR 13 - Re-evaluate Army War College current in-house Learning Management System (OASIS); currently not completely mobile-enabled MAR 13 - Evaluate other cloud technologies (beyond Box) AY 14 - Working towards 100% BYOD solution AY 14 – Complementing Curriculum delivery with apps
