Goal is to have every FFA Chapter supported by an Alumni Affiliate Conducting Statewide Alumni Raffle Encourage Local Affiliate Participation in State Activities Convention Council Awards

7 Program Updates Ag Education FY13 Budget
Advised of a possible 3% cut in each line item. Unsure at this time if and how it will impact Ag Ed Continue to make Ag Ed Important in your School and Community Involve Legislators in FFA Activities Guest Speakers in Classroom, FFA Meetings Attend Alumni Function – Important because Adults involved Invite to FFA Banquet We all Know the Importance of What We Do – Share it in a Subtle and Respectful way

8 Program Update Credentialing
Currently, the DOE is only recognizing the End of Pathway Assessments for technical skill attainment. Industry Certification Requirements have been updated and are on the AgEd website. GA Farm Bureau is the Certifying Agent Our goal is to have at least 10 programs certified in the Central Region.

9 Chapter/Program Initiatives
Basic Ag Science Course Revisions A committee has been formed to work on revising the Basic Ag Curriculum The new framework should be available beginning in FY14. Ready to use elementary Ag Awareness lessons High level academic ag course- AP

At least 10 NEW Industry Certifications 28 National Chapter Application Form II Quality Proficiency in every area Quality Participation for each Star Applicants for all 6 MS Record books All FFA Chapters to have an Alumni Affiliate Everyone Meeting All Standards

13 FFA Update – Fall 2012 Rosters open for 2012-13 use on September 6
FFA Membership Rosters open for use on September 6 Rosters are accessed through the AgCareer Network AgCN accounts (usernames and logins) available from Region Directors if you don’t have them already Dues for are $11 ($4 state & $7 national) Affiliation option is available (contact the state FFA office by September 1, to Affiliate) Rosters and dues are due by October 15 If you want FFA membership cards for your students, contact the state FFA Office

14 FFA Update – Fall 2012 National Convention Online registration is open through on the Ag Career Network Registration Costs $45 per person if you’re in the FFA housing block $65 per person if you’re outside the FFA housing block $70 per person on-site registration regardless of rooms Contact the FFA Office about rooms in the Georgia state rooming block at the downtown Sheraton

National Convention Georgia has….. 24 national proficiency finalists 3 American Star finalists 68 American FFA Degree recipients 21 Agriscience Fair finalists 3 talent and 1 band representative 19 CDE contestants 8 Honorary American Degree recipients 1 VIP Award recipient 1 Model of Innovation Middle School Program of the Year Finalist

45 Chapters had membership increase! Continue to promote Junior Membership and Spousal discount.

Georgia National Fair All Exhibits must be registered online at the GNF website – deadline to register is Thursday, Sept 20th All exhibits for Heritage Hall must be set up by Saturday, September 29th by 3:00pm. Horticulture ID (Floriculture and Nursery) Tuesday, October 9th - registration has been sent out through me, we are signing up for competition times this year Floral Design Contest – 2 per school Tuesday, October 9th – check in starts at Register with Yvette Smith - Theme is Family Fun Memories at the Fair, students must bring all of their own materials and material cost must be between $15 and $25
