1 The Sunshine League’s Agnes May Robinson Torch Relay
– Team Captain Fact Sheet Who does The Sunshine League benefit? When youth reach the age of 18, depending on their family support system, they are often not equipped to face the challenges of independent living. The Sunshine League will provide a Transitional Living Centre for young men in these circumstances; a programme that will address the key issues they face– housing, in a safe secure and positive environment, with rental assistance provided as necessary, assistance with further education, and mandatory life skills training including employment skills, financial management and other skills which will facilitate the transition from a child to a healthy, independent, successful adult. The program is open to youth exiting the Foster Care system, those referred from other helping agencies, and those who voluntarily seek assistance. How will The Sunshine League use the funds raised? Funds raised from this event will support the programmes and services necessary to operate the Transitional Living Centre, as well as our related initiatives including Life Skills Summer Camps, Foster Care support, Book scholarships, and Provision of uniforms and school supplies for school children in need.
