1 MANOR ADVENTURE LOCKERBIE 2017

2 PURPOSE: Adventurous activities – part of the children’s entitlement in the National Curriculum. Learn new skills – to experience new activities/create memories Personal development – Develop inner confidence and self-esteem Independence skills – organisation, thinking for themselves

3 WHY GO TO SCOTLAND? Manor facilities in Lockerbie are EXCELLENT.
Better in Winter than summer: No problem with heat or midges. Cost is less so you get more for your money. The centre in Shropshire was much harder to get to – windy roads. Same time to get there.

4 “BRILLIANT!” WHAT IS THE FOOD LIKE? Superb choice Canteen-style
Children will be using a lot more energy than they would normally do, so it is very important that each child receives three substantial meals per day. We provide our Catering Manager with a very generous budget to ensure that the quality and quantity of the food is fresh, tasty, nutritious and plentiful. Big portions!!! Superb choice “BRILLIANT!” Canteen-style

5 Bring a sleeping bag and pillow case.
WHERE ARE THEY SLEEPING? Good quality small dormitories with teachers next door! Don’t worry I’ve done this many times before – they WILL sleep!!! (Bedtime is pm) And there are 4 teachers!!! Mrs Davies Mrs Palmer Mrs Dillon Miss Bougen Bring a sleeping bag and pillow case.

6 WHICH ACTIVITIES ARE WE DOING?
Visit to Eskrigg Nature Reserve for a Nature Walk and to view Red Squirrels. Activities at Manor: Zip Wire – climb up rope ladder, 70m descent Fencing – learn skills such as stance, lunge, parry and repost. Orienteering – taught to map read to locate clues Mountain biking – on site track covering various terrains Climbing – purpose built climbing tower Obstacle Course – personal and team challenges Canoes – in pairs on the lake Abseiling – developing inner confidence

8 Safety is our number one priority
Safety is our number one priority. We invest considerable time and money into the safety of all our courses. The key factor is the quality of our instructors. This is achieved by adopting the most stringent recruitment and training regime within the industry.

10 POINTS TO NOTE Several pairs of gloves a good idea..
Snacks/sweets are allowed but must not be kept in the dormitory, so must be brought in a named carrier bag and given to Mrs Davies (for safe keeping!!!) on the morning of departure. They really won’t need much… Children must travel with walking boots/trainers and a waterproof coat so we can go on our red squirrel walk when we arrive. Medication MUST be given to Mrs Davies (including inhalers) PLEASE DROP OFF BAGS AT COMMUNITY CENTRE FROM 8.30AM ON WEDNESDAY MORNING – CHILDREN TO COME INTO SCHOOL WITH BAG FOR COACH (LUNCH/GAMES) Several pairs of gloves a good idea..

11 There is a tuck shop/small gifts – maximum £5
Leggings/running trousers are NOT warm enough but are good as a base layer. Please ensure children have warm trousers. Old or disposable cameras permitted at own risk.
