1 EFFECTIVE PRESENTATION

2 “Presenting is not simply about aesthetics or making things pretty; it’s about creating meaning. It’s about being present. I need to ensure that every person in the audience believes I’m having an individual conversation with them. That is my goal.”  ― Rick Justice

3 MAKING THE PRESENTATION EFFECTIVE.
Feel more confident while speaking: Preparation and knowledge of subject and the presentation itself are the pre-requisites for a successful presentation, which importantly produce confidence and control. Be more convincing: Get true facts and information about what you are presenting. This can be a way by which your audience will get to believe what you are saying.

4 MAKING THE PRESENTATION EFFECTIVE…. Cont’d
Speak more comfortably without notes or looking on any material: There is need for you to memorize some of the things to make your presentation more easy. Work more effectively with PowerPoint As a manager/ trainer you should be conversant with the use of PowerPoint. In as much as you will by speaking, you will also need to project whatever you are saying for your audience. Please don’t treat it as a script

5 MAKING THE PRESENTATION EFFECTIVE…. Cont’d
Grab and hold the attention of your audience: For communication to be effective you need to have the attention of your audience. You may find some people doing other things whiles the presentation is on ongoing. The use of “ hello” , “are you with me” etc will be useful to gain their maximum attention. Deliver tough messages in a more effective way. You should be able to find ways and means of explaining technical or difficult points for audience to understand. The use of practical example will be helpful.

6 MAKING THE PRESENTATION EFFECTIVE…. Cont’d
Don’t do all the talking: Make it interactive. Pass the ball around whenever you can. Let everyone participate. Making Eye Contact: Talk directly to people. The best presentation is delivered as a conversation to every person in your audience one person at a time.

7 MAKING THE PRESENTATION EFFECTIVE…. Cont’d
Establishing rapport Emphasizing key points Adapt more effectively to time constraints: As a good manager/ trainer, you should learn to be time conscious. Try to finish the presentation within the time frame that has been allocated to you.

8 MAKING THE PRESENTATION EFFECTIVE…. Cont’d
HANDLING QUESTIONS : Because this is going to be training on the product, it will be best to allow trainees to ask questions at some point in time during your presentation.

9 PRESENTATION SINS & HOW TO AVOID THEM
Wasting time : Start on time and finish on time. As already mentioned above, try to finish the presentation within the time allocated to you. Boring your audience: Don’t be regularly reading your points from the notes you have prepared but try to memorize most of the points you will be talking about. Package the information with your voice, body language and style to make it interesting.

10 PRESENTATION SINS & HOW TO AVOID THEM
Lacking Passion: Believe in the message and let the audience know how much you believe in what you are presenting. Passion is more convincing that logic. Confusing your audience: Keep your message clear. Avoid the use of technical languages. All technical words used should be explained for clearer understanding. Eliminate unnecessary information and conflicting messages

11 PRESENTATION SINS & HOW TO AVOID THEM
Insulting your Audience: Don’t make jokes about the audience. Don’t think you know better than them or even know what they think. Information overload: Give them what they need to know to do what you want them to do. Avoid feeding them with information that are not relevant to them

12 PRESENTATION SINS & HOW TO AVOID THEM
Using slides that are boring and irrelevant: Only use visuals aids that reinforce your message. PowerPoint will never rescue you from poor presentation skills.

13 FOR SUCCESS WITH YOUR PRESENTATION……….
Speak well; Speak effectively; Speak with confidence; Speak to make things happen; Speak imperfectly – and speak again.

14 THANK YOU
