2 Mission 1.Use a variety of sentence structures (i.e., simple, compound) to improve sentence fluency in the draft. A. Write simple and compound sentences. B. Write sentences that flow together and sound natural when read aloud. C. Vary sentence beginnings, lengths, and patterns to enhance the flow of the writing.

6 Ways to Elaborate Describe: Tell how it looks, tastes, smells, and
sounds using concrete nouns, specific adjectives, and strong verbs. My bed looks good now because I painted it white. I bought a black and white striped comforter and three firm, round black pillows to toss on it. It is so comfortable looking and inviting. Describe: Tell what it looks, tastes, smells, sounds, or feels like using figurative language. My bed looks like a zebra with its black and white striped comforter.

7 Directions In the bucket on your desk pick one envelope
Read the sentence on the outside and “beef up” the new sentence that you write on the green slip of paper You will have 1 minute and 30 seconds to write a new sentence and put it in the envelope DO NOT look at the other slips of paper in the envelope

8 Group 1 please report to the front table!!
After all of the buckets have rotated to you, pick one from each envelope from your original bucket  Have one person record it on the next power point slide. We will discuss the sentence after groups today. Stop Watch STOP WATCH Group 1 please report to the front table!!
