1 Celebrations and Festivals

2 Christmas is held on January 7th.
Children go caroling on Christmas Eve wearing costumes and are given food, drinks, candies or money as a reward. 12 meatless dished are served.

3 Tatyana Day Held on January 25th to celebrate the best times in the lives of students.

4 Ukrainians celebrate St
Ukrainians celebrate St. Valentines Day, April fools day and mother’s day.

5 Ukrainians Celebrate Easter
During the 40 days of Lent they do not eat meat or dairy products. They eat a special bread called “Paska” on Easter Sunday.

6 Victory Day Ukrainians honour old soldiers on May 9th.

7 Ivan Kupala Day On June 6th they celebrate by holding hands and jumping over a bon fire.

8 Independence Day On August 24th Ukrainians celebrate their independence from the Soviet Union.

9 Day of Knowledge On September 1st students celebrate their return to school carrying flowers.

10 St. Nicholas Day On December 9th, children receive gifts from St. Nicholas and their angels. There are no gifts given on Christmas Day.

11 New years day On January 1st, children in Ukraine receive presents under the New Year Tree.
